ABOUT KRISTA LOUISE
Krista is a special educational needs (SEN) expert, with 23 years of personal and professional experience of working with young people with a variety of SEN. Krista is a qualified secondary school teacher, having taught in state, independent and special school settings. She is passionate about supporting young people on the autistic spectrum, and their parents and carers too. Krista has a BTh degree, a PGCE in secondary education, a Master’s degree in Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome, CPCAB level 2 and 3 in counselling, a certificate in adolescent emotional first aid, is an associate of the Dyslexia Guild (ADG FE/HE), and is currently completing her Doctorate in Education, focussing her research on education for those with ASD.
Krista’s experience as a parent to a young person with ASD meant that she has been able to understand the challenges of home life and school life from both a teacher and parent perspective. This shaped her understanding of how to successfully support children and young people with ASD, as they try to navigate through their school years and beyond. Krista also understands how difficult and challenging being the parent and carer can be. Krista is now an advocate for young people with ASD and their parents, is a specialist SEN tutor, and helps parents to traverse their children’s challenging ASD phases.
Krista can often be found travelling the globe, enjoying shows in the West End, and when at home spending time with her three house bunnies.
